New publications of the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC)

Under the general frame to find globally ways of combating the issue of drug related offenses using alternative ways to incarceration the IDPC has published a report trying to contribute to this dialogue with proposals. Read here the document in english or spanish.

Additionally, taking under consideration that there is a funding crisis for harm reduction services across the world, another publication has been released. This time IDPC collaborates with the International Harm Reduction and with International HIV/AIDS Alliances. This report has been published during the World AIDS Congress in Melbrourne and you can read the document in english here.

Despite some marked improvements, the INCB report for 2013 remains a deeply conflicted document, shot through with tensions.

In an attempt to address some notable aspects of the document, this response to the Board's Annual Report for 2013 is organised under five inter-connected headings.

This report consequently examines the President's Foreword, the Board's approach to the 'Economic consequences of drug abuse' in the thematic chapter, issues surrounding its lack of comment on harm reduction, drug treatment and human rights, the Board's position on access to essential medicines and its reactions to shifts in the policy landscape. Check the report here.
