What is AIDS Action Europe?
AIDS Action Europe was established in 2004 and has grown to be one of the largest HIV-related networks in the region. The network reaches beyond the borders of the European Union and covers all 53 countries in Europe and Central Asia. AAE's mission is to bring together civil society to work towards a more effective response to the HIV epidemic in Europe and Central Asia. Members of the network comprise a diversity of about 450 NGOs, national networks, AIDS service organisations, activists and community based groups of people living with HIV. PRAKSIS has been a member of this broad network of civil society organizations since 2012.
Through advocacy and agenda-setting at global, European, national and local levels, AIDS Action Europe influences HIV policies, ensur ing that the voices of NGOs are heard by policy makers, European institutions and key stakeholders. AAE co-chairs the EU HIV/AIDS Civil Society Forum and is a member of the EU HIV/AIDS Think Tank. Other channels used are EU presidencies and international meetings. Minutes of each of the above mentioned meetings can be found here.
Recently there was an open call among member-organizations in order to renew the Steering Committee of AAE. It was recently announced that in the new SC and for the next three years PRAKSIS's advocacy officer, Marianella Kloka, will be part (among others).
